'HISTORY OF THE CAPTIVITY OF NAPOLEON AT ST HELENA', by William Forsyth, 1853: the printed work, grangerized in 1919 by the addition of letters (in English, French, German, Italian and Arabic), engraved portraits, views, maps, etc., relating to the captivity (1815-1821) and to persons and places mentioned in the narrative. The additional material was collected by Canon Edwin Brook-Jackson and his wife, Christian Alexandra (see their Introduction, Vol. I, f. 3). Some of it supplements the papers of Lieutenant-General Sir Hudson Lowe, G.C.M.G., Governor of Saint Helena, in the Department (Add. MSS. 15729, 20107-20240, 29543, 36297, ff. 12-21, 41192, ff. 68-70b, 45517, 49528, 56088-56091) and includes correspondence of his printed in Forsyth, op. cit. Other contents are:-(1) Two letters from William Warden, surgeon on H.M.S. 'Northumberland', to his future wife, Elizabeth Hutt, 1815, 1816. Printed in Napoleon and his Fellow Travellers, ed. C. K.
