Egerton MS 3788

LIBER PACIS FOR 1590: list, produced in the Crown Office, of commissioners of the peace in order of precedence for every county in England and Wales (excepting Lancashire); 1590. This is apparently the only extant Liber Pacis for 1590, and provides the only complete record of which people served as justices of the peace during that year. There are notations indicating members of the quorum, the custodes rotulorum and sheriffs for the year. At the end (f. 49) is a list of the judicial circuits. On the Libri Pacis, see further T. G. Paper; ff. 50. 300 x 100mm. In a contemporary limp vellum cover, with a title in Latin on the back cover. The front cover has been used for making arithmetical calculations. Vellum tie attached to the back cover; the binding is secured with twisted vellum thongs with protective leather stops on the spine.
