Correspondence and papers of Edward Rimbault Vere Dibdin (b.1853, d.1941), art critic; 1873-1956, n.d. Partly printed. The greater part of the collection consists of letters between E. R. Dibdin and his friend the drama critic William Archer (b.1856, d.1924). Other principal correspondents are Frances E. Archer, wife, and Charles Archer, brother, of William Archer. The names of all correspondents are to be found in the index to the present catalogue. The collection includes four volumes of miscellaneous papers, largely by or relating to William Archer. The Dibdin Papers in conjunction with the Archer Correspondence in Add. 45290-45297 were used extensively by C. Archer in William Archer: Life, Work and Friendships, (1931).
