. Collections of chronograms compiled by James Hilton, F.S.A., with related letters from the Rev. Cecil Deedes; 1904-1907, n.d. Partly printed. Partly Latin. Hilton published widely on the subject; see inter alia his Chronograms (1882), Chronograms continued and concluded (1885), and Chronograms collected . . . (1895). He bequeathed a collection of books on chronograms to the British Museum Library; see Brit. Mus. Quart., v (1930-1931), pp. 119-120. For a further letter of Deedes to Hilton dated 1899, see Add. 37504, f. 212. For other examples of chronograms, see Add. 52608 A, 54196, 65193 and 70591, which were formerly owned by Hilton, and King's 178-180. Transferred from Collection Development and incorporated in 1989.
