SUPPLEMENTARY SOUTHWELL PAPERS: correspondence of the Southwell family; 1674-1767. It relates mainly to family, legal, financial, estate and business matters, with a few letters on Irish political affairs partly from Joshua Dawson. Supplements Add. 9708-9709, 9748-9749, 11759, 19670, 21122-21123, 21131, 21494-21495, 34329-34346, 34349-34350, 34358, 47038-47039, 58219-58220, Eg. 1627-1633. Formerly Phillipps MSS. 8586 (Add. 60582-60583) and 10059 (Add. 60581). Several of the letters originally contained in Phillipps MSS. 8586 and 10059 were removed before their acquisition by the British Library and appear to have been sold individually in the course of several auctions at Sotheby's in the late 1970s. Purchased at Sotheby's, 23 July 1979, lot 26.
