ABERGAVENNY ESTATES: fifteen plans of the estates of George Neville, 11th Baron Abergavenny (b.1659, d.1721) in Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, surveyed (in June-August 1718) and drawn by Benjamin Fallowes of Maldon, Essex (flor. 1714-1726); 1718. The plans, which are coloured and on parchment, are bound in one volume, each plan measuring approximately 72 x 57cm. The volume is incomplete, as ff. 20-43 are stubs, at least eight of the last plans in the volume having been cut out, perhaps circa 1800 following the sale of those estates. Plans 1, 2 and 3 were reproduced photographically at much reduced scale by the Ordnance Survey circa 1935: see Ordnance Survey Catalogue of Photographs of Old Cadastral and other plans of Great Britain (Southampton, 1935). Owned by the Marquis of Abergavenny in 1935. Purchased of Maggs Bros., Limited, Nov. 1979.
