Map of the southern frontier of the Papal States
- Scope & Content:
-
Map showing the frontier region between the Kingdom of Naples and the Papal States, surveyed between 1797-8 by Neapolitan military engineers under the leadership of Giovanni Antonio Rizzi-Zanoni and probably drafted by Ottone di Berger for the Officina Topografica del Regno di Napoli. Scale c 1:120,000, the same scale and the same projection of the map of the kingdom of Naples drawn and engraved in 31 sheets between 1788 and 1812 under the direction of Rizzi Zannoni. It depicts the areas between Terracina, Fondi and Pontecorvo, and between Cerveteri, Formello, Amelia, Terni, Norcia and Ripatransone and seems to be related to three copperplates engraved by Giuseppe Guerra and mentioned in a French documents of April 1799, of which only one set of proof impressions appear to have survived. Shaded relief.
