LITURGICAL FRAGMENT: part of a leaf from a liturgical manuscript containing prayers; late 10th-early 11th cent. Latin. Purchased from Quaritch, Cat. 1056, item 46, 3 Jan. 1986.
Vellum; f. 1. 105 x 165mm. Each side of the fragment contains 11 lines of text. The script is closely related to that of Harley 2904 and to the original hand of Cambridge, Sidney Sussex College MS. 100 part ii (on which see T. A. M. Bishop, English Caroline Minuscule (Oxford 1971), no. 16), both probably the work of a Winchester scribe. Rubricated heading on dorse and one two-line coloured initial. Part of the text is obscured by ink-blots and the dorse is much more faded than the front, suggesting that this fragment may perhaps at some time have formed part of a binding.
