MUSIC PUBLISHING: album of receipts, agreements and letters of musicians, chiefly relating to the firms John and Thomas Preston (John Preston & Son), and Coventry and Hollier; 1773-1863. Mostly receipts for copyright in musical compositions. The signatories, all of whom are included in the index to the present catalogue, include Johann André, Samuel Arnold, Thomas Attwood, Robert Birchall, H. R. Bishop, J. W. Callcott, John Davy, Tommaso Giordano, James Hook, Vincent Novello, George Onslow, Sir George Smart, and Daniel Steibelt. The volume also includes letters from J. B. Cramer, Ferdinand David, Domenico Dragonetti, J. N. Hummel, Leopold Kozeluch (to George Thomson), Nicolas Mori and Ignaz Moscheles. Four letters (from Cipriani Pottter, George Thomson and others), 1839-1860, are addressed to Robert Barnett (d.1875), in whose family the volume appears to have been compiled.
