WELLINGTON Papers: letters, papers and despatches of and concerning Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington 1814, during his service in the Peninsular War; 1809-1814. Partly printed. Partly French and Spanish. Purchased mostly in Madrid in 1920 by T. R. Badger, although a few items were added by him from other sources (f. 2). The Madrid purchases came from the library of the Romana family, descendants of the Marquis de la Romana, a Spanish general during the war. At the front of the volume (f. i) is an engraving of Wellington by A. Easto, 1813. Bequeathed by Mrs E. M. Gordon in 1985, and incorporated in April 1987.
