Title:

GEORGE WILLIAM CHAD: diaries of George William Chad; 1807-1849. Chad was minister at the Hague 1818-1824, Dresden 1824-1828, Frankfurt 1829-1830, and Berlin 1830-1832. The diaries are principally of interest for their records of Chad's diplomatic transactions during and just after the 1830 revolutions (59722-59724) and of several conversations between Chad and the Duke of Wellington between 1824 and 1849; all the conversations save that of April 1849 (59736) were published, with additional material, by the 7th Duke of Wellington in The Conversations of the First Duke of Wellington with George William Chad (1956). Purchased of Henry Bristow Ltd., Ringwood, co. Southt., 27 May 1976.

Paper. Thirty-two volumes. Mostly Kearsley's Gentleman's and Tradesman's Pocket Ledgers. 59706 is Peacock's Complete Pocket Journal, 59720 is Marshall's Commercial Pocket Book, and 59708 is The Norfolk and Norwich Gentleman's, Merchant's, Tradesman's, Farmer's, and Grazier's, Complete Memorandum Book.
