'CHARLES LAMB'S LIBRARY': an annotated list of 'such books as it was agreed should be destroyed after the more valuable, with notes, had been selected preserved at the request of "Capt. Jackson" and purchased by him at Edward Moxon's sale . . . on the death of Mary Lamb to Francis Jackson'; after 1897. The compiler, Richard Charles Jackson, claims that the list gives the books which on Mary Lamb's death Moxon was persuaded to sell to his grandfather, Francis Jackson. On this claim see B. Rosenbaum, Index of English Literary Manu-scripts, IV, 1800-1900, ii (1990), p. 666. At the start of the volume are notes on Francis Jackson and his father Henry. Pasted on the endpapers of the upper cover are two bookplates of R. C. Jackson dated 1896 and 1897 (ff. ii, vi) and on the inside of the lower cover one of Henry Jackson dated 1750 (f. vii). Presented by Donald Ellis and James Wilson, 16 Aug. 1978.
Paper; ff. viii+71. 230 x 180mm. Contemporary binding of green stained vellum.
