miscellaneous private, political and diplomatic correspondence and papers of Sir George Shee (b.1754, d.1825), 1st Bart., East India Company official, Surveyor-General of the Ordnance (Ireland) 1797-1799, Secretary to the Irish Treasury 1799-1800, Under Secretary for the Home Department 1801-1803 and for the War and Colonies 1806-1807, Receiver-General of Customs (Ireland) 1804-1825, and of his son Sir George Shee (1785-1870), 2nd Bart., Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs 1830-1834, appointed British Minister to Prussia 1834, British Minister to Württemberg 1835-1844; 1771-1862. The collection was calendared in 1975 by the National Register of Archives (N.R.A. 19146). References to this calendar are given here for each manuscript. Purchased of Captain Richard Neall, 26 July 1978.
