The correspondence, which includes several copies of King's own letters, formed part of his research for lectures delivered by him in Cambridge, Michaelmas term 1961, as Sanders Reader in Bibliography, and for the subsequent publication of the lectures as Some British Collectors of Music c.1600-1960 (1963).
