JOHN DE SANDALE: inventory of the goods of John de Sandale, Bishop of Winchester, compiled on the day of his death in the presence of Adam de Lymbergh and Richard de Postegrave: 'Inventario de bonis et catallis que fuerunt Johannis de Sandale nuper Episcopi Wyntoni defuncti per Adam de Lymberg et Ricardum de Portesgrave ad hoc assignatos per breve Regis'; 2 Nov. 1319. Latin. A round piece of paper bearing a 19th-cent. lot number '1434/c' on the external fold. Belonged to Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS. 24016). Purchased at Sotheby's, Phillipps sale, 14 June 1971, lot 1423.
Vellum roll; ff. 8. 610/731 x 227/230mm. approx. Ruled (single bounding lines) in hard point for single columns. The leaves are stitched together at the top by means of a twisted parchment cord, except for f. 8, which is sewn to the bottom of f. 7. Script is a regular English cursive documentary hand.
