NAVIGATION CHART OF PORTSMOUTH AND THE ISLE OF WIGHT: 'A draught of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight', by I. T.; 1739. Scale bar 'Miles belonging to this Chart' shows a scale approximately 1cm = 1 mile. Based on Edmund Halley's chart of the English Channel [1702] and the subsequent Channel chart of Richard Mount and Thomas Page. Possibly an exercise by a navigation student at the Royal Academy at Portsmouth. Purchased 31 Jan. 1970.
