HOTEL REGISTER: register of the Hôtel de l'Europe, Abbeville; 10 Sept. 1827-8 Feb. 1846. Partly French. The register contains entries for many aristocrats and other prominent people, for example Lady Noel Byron (f. 124) and the Princess Lieven (f. 203). Remarks are included on the quality of service, and some entries give advice to other travellers on hotels and routes. Some pages have been removed and others mutilated, whole entries and signatures being cut out. T. R. G. Lawrence & Son, Crewkerne, sale-cat. 15 April 1970, lot 184. Purchased 30 May 1970.
