'Ramble in Spain with F[rederick] W[hitworth William] Aylmer', 6th Baron Aylmer, landing at Gijon 12 Sept. 1808, then by way of Oviedo, Leon, Tordesillas, Valladolid, Burgos and Madrid to Coruña, then to Plymouth, arriving on 28 and leaving for Whiteford, co. Cornw., on 29 Oct. 1808; bef. 12 Sept.-29 Oct. 1808.
2. ff. 19-64. Journey to Sweden, Prussia and France with his sister, Phillida, in search of her husband, Benjamin Bathurst, Envoy to Austria, who disappeared without trace at Perleberg, Prussia, 25 Nov. 1809, on his way back to England; 10 June-29 Sept. 1810. Used by his cousin, W. M. W. Call, Westminster Review, cxxxiv, 1890, pp. 396-414, for his account of this unresolved mystery. See also Sir J. R. H. Hall, Four Famous Mysteries, 1922. Phillida Bathurst's own account of the journey is now Add. MS. 40743.
