Three forged letters of Francesco Petrarca, two in Italian addressed to Giacomo Colonna, purportedly dated 1338, 1341, and one in Latin addressed to an unidentified 'Wilhelmus', purportedly dated 1340; [18?]th cent. Purchased, with other manuscripts, by Henry Richard Vassall Fox, 3rd Baron Holland, from Ysidro del Olmo in Madrid, October 1803. The Italian letters were first published as genuine by Ugo Foscolo in Essays on Petrarch, London, 1821, pp. 205-8, with partial facsimiles of all three letters in Appendix V. The Latin letter was published by Princess Liechtenstein in Holland House, 1874, ii, as Appendix F, pp. 225-7, with a facsimile opposite p. 194. See E. H.
