Title:

SIR A. T. WILSON PAPERS Correspondence and papers of Sir Arnold Talbot Wilson, K.C.I.E. (b. 1884, d. 1940), mostly relating to his service in Mesopotamia as Deputy Chief Political Officer with Indian Expeditionary Force 'D' from 1915 to 1916, and as Deputy, afterwards Acting, Civil Commissioner from 1916 to 1920; 1915-1930. The collection was used and occasionally quoted by John Marlowe, Late Victorian, 1967, and by E. Kedourie in England and the Middle East, 1956. The transfer of the MSS. to the Department is not noted by Kedourie in his second edition, 1978. For an account of Wilson's experiences in Mesopotamia, see his two works, Loyalties, Mesopotamia, 1914-1917, 1930, and Mesopotamia 1917-1920: A Clash of Loyalties, 1931. Transferred from the Department of Printed Books.
