THE BLAKE BUTLER COLLECTIONS Genealogical collections relating to the Butler family of Ireland, compiled by Theodore Blake Butler (d. 1965); 1912-1964. Mostly typewritten and manuscript copies. According to a note signed by Butler (52802, f. 1), his main collection of letters, papers, and pedigrees of the Butler family of Ireland in fifteen quarto volumes was presented in 1961 to the National Library of Ireland, MSS. no. 12022-12036. For details of these volumes, and a further collection of thirty-five volumes of notes and other papers presented by Butler to the Irish Genealogical Society in 1962, see 52802, ff. 5-5b. The present papers consist of a large collection of historical notes, pedigrees, transcripts of deeds and abstracts from manuscripts and printed books, with associated correspondence, all loosely arranged under the various branches of the family. The original arrangement of the papers has been preserved as far as possible. Titles of volumes are taken from covers and contents pages, if any.
