THE JOHN IRELAND COLLECTION Music manuscripts of John Nicholson Ireland; aft. 1890-1958, n.d. Autograph. Written in ink except where stated. After Ireland's death the manuscripts were sorted and arranged for the donor by Ernest Chapman, and many have wrappers or title-pages in his hand. Proofs, corrected by the composer, of some of the published works, are housed in the Music Library of the British Library, with the exception of one set bound with 52886. Chapman's notes on the collection made at that time form Add. MS. 61884. Owing to partial rearrangement of the collection some Additional Manuscript numbers may not correspond with the numbers given in reference works. For bibliography, see Stewart R.
