THREE UNPUBLISHED WRITINGS OF THE MUGGLETONIAN, THOMAS TOMKINSON (1631-circ. 1710), of Sladehouse in 1lam, co. Staff. Apparently not autograph, to judge from the description of Tomkinson's hand given by Rev. Alexander Gordon in Proc. of the Literary and Philosophical Soc. of Liverpool, xxiv, 1870, pp. 232-233. As follows:-
(1) 'The Christian Conuarte, or Christianetye Reuiued', an autobiographical work covering the period 15 Feb. (corrected from Mar.) 165½ 1681. Incorporated are verse and prose compositions by Tomkinson and copies of his correspondence with members of the sect, including (ff. 6, 21) two letters from its founder, Lodowicke Muggleton (printed in The Works of John Reeve and Lodwicke Muggleton, vol. iii, A Volume of Spiritual Epistles, pp. 164-169, and A Stream from the Tree of Life, PP. 48-49, respectively). Another copy of this work, seen by Gordon (loc. Cit., p. 223), stated that it was written in i 692. The present MS. has an addition at the foot Of f. 29 b referring to the author's later treatise, 'The White Diuell Uncased' (written in 1704, cf. Dict. Nat. Biogr., lvii, p. 13). ff. 2-29b.
