The Stanmore Papers. Correspondence and papers of Arthur Hamilton-Gordon, 1st Baron Stanmore, colonial governor, (b. 1829, d. 1912); 1841-1912, with Supplementary Aberdeen Papers; 1803-1861. Further Papers of Stanmore as Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick are in the possession of the University of New Brunswick. He wrote Wilderness Journeys in New Brunswick (1864), Story of a Little War, 1876 (1879) and other works noted below, in which he published many documents from the following volumes. Many of the letters included are originals sent by Lord Stanmore and later returned to him. Used by J. K. Chapman for his The Career of Arthur Hamilton Gordon, first Lord Stanmore, 1829-1912 (Toronto, 1964). Presented in 1953, with printed material now transferred to the Department of Printed Books, by George Arthur Maurice Hamilton-Gordon, 2nd Baron Stanmore, P.C., K.C.V.O.
