A. Two vellum leaves from service-books, each irregularly cropped and now measuring 135 x 110mm. and 160 x 115mm. respectively, the first, pro-bably English, containing Psalm 118 [119], vv. 92-106, and the second, possibly English or North French, part of the office of Prime from the Hours of the B. V. M.; late 14th cent. Latin. Both have decorated initials with penwork ornamentation, with a slightly more elaborate initial 'Q' on the recto of the first leaf. Presented by G. I. Bonner, Esq.

A later episode in this journey is described in his The City of the Saints, 1861, Burton's own copy of which, now at Kensington Public Library, contains a few pages of its original MS. from a notebook.
