Correspondents include Sir George Cathcart, Governor-General at the Cape; Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, Earl and (1888) 1st Marquess of Dufferin; Lord John Russell; and Sir Henry Bulwer (Baron Dalling and Bulwer, 1871).
