At the beginning (Vol. I, f. 1) is a fragmentary and undated letter, circ. 1865, enclosing a sketch by W. M. Thackeray of Fanny Kemble as Louise de Savoie in her 'Francis the First' (1833). Included are letters to Fitzgerald from Sir William Frederic Pollock (5 Oct. 1871),Vol. I, f. 59, and William Page Wood, Baron Hatherly (20 Feb. 1878), Vol. II, f. 12. The letters (except for that dated 12 Feb. 1875) were printed, with occasional omissions and alterations, by W. Aldis Wright, Letters of Edward Fitzgerald to Fanny Kemble, 1895 (nos. i-lxxxv), which contains twenty-nine further letters from 1881 to 27 May 1883. A transcript of all the letters is in Add.
