JOURNAL of H.M.S. 'St Albans', Charles Inglis, Captain, kept by Midshipman James Francis Grant; 4 Dec. 1780-28 July 1783. The 'St Albans', after taking part in the relief of Gibraltar, 12 Apr. 1781, was sent with a convoy to the West Indies, where it was in action during Hood's attempt to relieve St Kitts, 25 Jan. 1782, and at the Battle of the Saintes, 12 Apr. 1782; it subsequently visited New York, Sept.-Oct. 1782. A fair copy of the journal from 13 Oct. 1782 to 28 July 1783 (ff. 59-91) Occupies ff. 93-120 of the present volume. Paper; ff. i + 120. Folio. 1780-1783. Presented to the Royal Historical Society by J. T. Thorp of Leicester.
