SKETCH-PLAN OF THE BATTLE OF CORUNNA (16 Jan. 1809), drawn to a scale of about 3 in. to a mile, by Capt. Henry Hardinge (afterw. Field- Marshal 1st Viscount Hardinge of Lahore), A.D.C. to Lt.-Gen. Sir John Moore, and signed by him as a Deputy Assistant Quarter-Master-General; 28 Jan. 1809. The plan gives the positions of the British and French armies before and after the action and is supplied with a key and explanatory memoranda by Hardinge. It differs in detail both from other contemporary maps of the action (e.g. Add. MS. 31322 LL) and from that in Sir J. W. Fortescue, A History of the British Army, vi, 1910 (in which an account of the battle will be found, pp. 376-393). Paper, now mounted in roll form on linen. 0.600 m. x 0.487 m. A.D. 1809. Presented anonymously.
