ACCOMPT BOOK, Containing particulars of the issue at Bastia in Corsica of provisions to troops during the latter part of the British military occupation of the island; 7 July - 12 Oct. 1796. Followed by records in two series (ff. 41b-45, 46b-49) of the issue and receipt of provisions for detachments at several places on the island of Elba prior to its evacuation, 25 Dec. 1796-30 Mar. 1797. The MS. was evidently compiled, in more than one hand, for the Commissary General's Department (see f. i), a separate hand being responsible for the entries made after the transfer to Elba. Paper; ff. ii + 52. Folio. 1796-1797. Binding of blind-tooled calf with a gilt-tooled red morocco label on the front cover (f. i) bearing the title 'Commissary Generals Department 1793'. Inserted (f. ii) is a storekeeper's return, 25 Jan. 1797, apparently used for the entry on f. 43b. Presented by the University of Western Ontario.
