CORRESPONDENCE, ETC., OF LT.-COL. WILLIAM EDWARD MOSS relating mainly to 'A Miniature', a poem originally published as the work of Robert Browning, but apparently an imitation by Mrs Hannah Watts-Jones (1845-1939), a number of letters from whom are included; 26 Apr. 1892- 9 Oct. 1941. The poem was first printed, over Browning's name, in The Sybil, a Rugby School magazine, 1 Apr. 1893 (a copy of the issue is included here, ff. 4-15b). It was subsequently included, without Browning's name, by Mrs Watts-Jones in Jackanory, a volume of her own poems published under the pseudonym 'A British Matron' [1897], and later reprinted, as a genuine work of Browning, by F. J. Furnivall, for the Browning Society, 1904. Other letters relating to 'A Miniature' are in Add. MSS. 45563, ff. 224-244 Passim, and 45564, f. 144.
