(1) Letters from Rey to Miss Azeline Lewis, in connexion with her translation of his pamphlet Le Roman de John Stuart Mill, Paris, 1913, published in the Nineteenth Century , lxxiv, 1913, pp. 502-526; 2 May 1913-20 May 1914. French. Also included (ff. 8-9) is a letter to Miss Lewis from Mary Taylor, a granddaughter of Mrs Mill, on the same subject, 14 Aug. 1913. ff. 2-16.
(2) Extracts from Miscellaneous and Posthumous Works of Henry Thomas Buckle, vol. i, edited by Helen Taylor (London, 1872). Parts of the MS. as sent to the printer, written out by a French amanuensis, with Miss Taylor's autograph revisions. The extracts correspond to pp. 368-384 (ff. 17-50), 416-448 (ff. 51-121), 496-506 (ff. 122-141) of the printed edition, with an excerpt from p. 357 misplaced on f. 73. ff. 17-141. Paper; ff. 141. Folio. XIX-XX centt. Art. 2 was given to the donor by Rey's daughter after his death (see her covering letter to the gift, f. 1). Presented by Miss Azeline Lewis.
