(1) Accompts, affidavits, court orders, etc., relating to the action brought in the Court of Chancery against Richard Mason, former employee of Jane (d. 1618), widow of Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley, by her grandson and executor, Sir Roger Townshend, 1st Bart. 1617; [1616] -25 Nov. 1619, n.d. Probably from the papers of the Townshend family of Raynham Hall, co. Norf., of which other portions, unrelated to the present group, form Add. MSS. 38492-38508, 41139-41152, 41178 K, 41305-41308, 41654-41656, 48981-48982, 50006-50012, Egerton MS. 3124, Add. Charters 66712-66713, 75479-75491. ff. 1-48b.
(2) Papers rel. to the House of Lords, viz.:-(a) note of fees to be paid when George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, took his seat, [25 Feb. 1624]. f. 49;-(b) list of petitions, etc., due to be heard 21-28 Nov. 1685 and held over following the prorogation of Parliament. ff. 50-51b. From the papers of the Clayton family of Harleyford, Great Marlow, co. Bucks., of which several portions are in the Bodleian Library (e.g. MS. Pedigree rolls 36a; MS. Eng. lett. c. 2O1) bearing the same stamp 'CLAYTON MSS.' and 20th-cent. ink heading.
(3) Letter from Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, as Lord High Admiral, to Timothy Alsop, Deputy Vice-Admiral for co. Devon, concerning two prizes; Plymouth, 14 Aug. 1644.
