(1) Correspondence relating for the most part to cartographical questions; 1868-1905. The letters are arranged alphabetically and the names of the writers will be found in the Index to the present Catalogue. ff. 1-109.
(2) Sketch maps of Africa, viz.:-(a) mission stations in the vicinity of Molepolole, Bechuanaland, ff. 110b-111;-(b) part of the Semliki River valley, drawn by a member of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition led by Henry Morton Stanley (G.C.B. 1899); 14 June 1889. For further maps relating to this expedition see Add. MS. 41259 A, B. f. 112;-(c) the battlefield of Taba-si-Mamba, Matabeleland; 5 July 1896, together with a newspaper extract relating to the battle and including a version of the map. ff. 113, 114.
