"ORDO breuiarii secundum constuetudinem Romane curie;" with a calendar prefixed. The offices for Saints, or "Festiuitates sanctorum per totum anni circulum," begin at f. 114, and are followed by:-"Ordo officii beate Marie virginis," f. 175 b;-
"Officium in agenda mortuorum," f. 182;-and the office "in conceptione beate Marie virginis," f. 186. An office for St. Francis, in a later hand, is inserted at f. 155. Vellum; written in double columns in a fine Italian hand of the end of the xvth cent., with miniatures, borders and initials, in the best style of Florentine art of the period. Bound in red morocco, richly tooled, with silver clasps and gaufred edges. The following entries illustrating the history of the MS. occur in the calendar:-iii id. Febr., "Obitus Gerardi spetiarii [speciarii] qui construxit capellam beati Antonii et altare beati Francisci," f. 1 b;-v non. Maii, "Inuentio Sancte Crucis, duplex," f. 3;-
ii id. Jul., "Festum sancti Boneuenture, episcopi et confessoris, de ordine Minorum, semper celebratur secunda dominica mensis Julii. EL hoe de mandato Sixti iiiiti [1471-1484]. f. 4;-iiii non. Oct., "Natale beatissimi patris nostri Francisci confessoris, duplex maius," f. 5 b. The evidence of these entries, connecting tho MS. with the Franciscan order, is confirmed by the half-erased inscription on f. 1, "Iste liber pertinet ecclesie S. Crucis de Florentia," the Church of Santa Croce at Florence belonging to a Franciscan house. As the arms, moreover, of Riario, surmounted by a patriarchial cross, are introduced into the borders of ff. 7, 127 b, it is probable that the MS. was executed for Frà Pietro Riario, a Franciscan, Patriarch of Constantinople, Cardina1 in Dec. 1471, archbishop of Florence in 1473, ob. 1474, and was by him presented to the Church of Santa Croce. Folio.
