PORTOLANO, With the title " Universalis et integra totius orbis Hidrografia ad verissimam Luzitanorum traditionem descripcio Ferdinãdo Este livro fes Fernão Vãz Dourado": containing seventeen maps beautifully drawn and ornamented in gold and colours, witli shields of arms, flags, etc. On f. 1 b are the royal arms of Portugal, and on f. 2 is a representation of St. Sebastian, in compliment to Sebastian, King of Portugal (1557-1578). At the end are cosmographical rules and tables (two of which refer to the year 1546), and calendars showing the sun's declinations, calculated for four year,,;, the last being a leap year. From this fact, combined with the insertion of the year 1575 on one of the tables, and from a table of feasts (f. 38) which coincide exactly with those for 1573 the latter date has been assigned to the MS.
