MISCELLANEOUS entry-book of Thomas Arthur, M.D., of Limerick, who began practice in Limerick in 1619, and subsequently, in 1630, removed to Dublin. Besides a full list of his patients and fees between the years 1619 and 1666, the volume contains much information respecting the history of his family, his acquisition of property, and the history of Limerick. The principal contents are:-
1. Various payments; 1648-1653. f. 4.
2. Catalogue of Dr. Arthur's books. f. 8.
3. Lists of patients and fees; 1619-1666. Latin. ff. 15-86, 138-141, 144-167.
4. " A true account of all the fee-simples, mortgadges, leases, bills, bondes, and dealeings which Thomas Arthure fitz William, esquier, Doctor of phisick, had and hath," entering very fully into particulars, and extending from 1624 through the period of the Civil War, to which references are incidentally made. ff. 87-137.
5. Receipts of rents at Limerick; 1630-163 6/7. ff. 168-173.
6. Various literary pieces of Dr. Arthur's composition, in prose and verse, in Latin. ff. 174-194. Among them are:-
a. " Anagramma Physiognomicum in nomen Thomæ Wentworth, Proregis Hiberniæ, truculenti et nefarii hominis, paucis litteris commutatis"; with verses. f. 174 b. b. " Hæe viginti Anagrammata, paucis commutatis litteris, edidi in nomen Georgii Radclyffe " [Sir George Radcliffe]; with an explanation of the anagrams, in verse. f. 175. c. "Edylium genealogicum seu parentale e7rLK-18LOV prosapiæ Domini Thomæ, Arthurii Lymmaricensis armigeri, philosophiæ et medicinæ Doctoris," in verse. f. 183 b.
