" WESTONORUM, ab antiquo loco qui dicebatur Weston, iuxta Spalding, in agro Lincolniensi, denominatorum, antiquissimæ et equestris familiae genealogia et prosapia, e qua, regnante Henrico primo Anglorum Rege, floruit Haylerick de Weston, Saxonicus, a quo illustris vir Richardus Weston, de Sutton in comitatu Eques Auratus, originem traxit, una cum coalescentium hæredum propagine, quorum arma siue insignia gentilitia, simul cum prædiorum portionibus, deficiente stirpe masculina, ad præfatam familiam per fæminias hæredes deuoluta sunt. Diligenter obseruata omnia ex publicis regni archiuis et priuatis eiusdem familiæ archetipis, ecelesiis, monumentis, historiis, monasteriorum registris, et rotulis armorum uetustissimis, aliisque reuerendæ antiquitatis et indubitatæ ueritatis rebus, maximo labore ac fide oculata depromuntur, et ad perpetuam rei memoriam seriatim hoe ordine describi curantur. Anno incarnationis Dominic MDC. xxxij." Pedigree of the family of Weston, of Sutton Place, co. Surrey, drawn up by Sir William Segar, Garter, in 1632; continued to the close of the 18th century, the period of the extinction of this branch of the Westons of Weston-under-Lyzard, co. Stafford. With carefully-drawn coats of arms in colours. A note at the foot, by Lieut.-Colonel Gould Hunter-Weston, F.S.A., of Hunterston, West-Kilbride, Ayrshire, states that the pedigree was preserved at Sutton Place during the survival of the family (See Manning, History of Surrey, ed. Bray, 1804, vol. i. p. 134), but that it afterwards passed into the hands of strangers,by whose neglect suffered severe injuries. VellumRoll, 26 ft. 10 in. x 4 ft. 6 in.
