PAPERS Of John Jones, of Kellilysday, co. Flint; chiefly copies or drafts of letters and petitions written by him while confined in the Fleet Prison, London, in 1641 and 1654-1657, and in Flint Gaol in 1643, complaining of his imprisonment and offering his services to the King and Parliamentary Party, with proposals for reforming the government, etc. Included are:-
1. Petitions to the House of Commons for settling the rights and prerogatives of God, the State, and the King; n. d., May, 1641. ff. 15, 17. Followed (f. 19 b) by an account of an interview on the subject with the Earl of Northumberland and others, in 1642.
2. " About Corporationes ": on prerogatives, etc., " sent " by Mr. Wm. Edwards to the House; n. d. f 21.
3. " The Aunswere of John Jones, gent., to the wrongfull impositions of money imposed uppon hym or his lands by any of the Parlament Officers agaynst the lawe and justice of this land of Wales, presented to the holl. Generall Thomas Mitton, Generall of the Kinge and Parlament forces for North Wales "; with a similar communication to Thomas, Lord Fairfax, 22 Nov. 1647. ff. 24 b, 28 b-37.
