The authorship has been assigned by Bale and others to Johannes de Hoveden. The introduction beg.: " [I]n Christo sibi dilecto quondam scolari "; and the work itself: " Abstinencie triplex est species." f. 73 b.
10. " Hic incipit alius liber qui vocatur Ancelmus [or Ancelinus?] de morte ": a sermon on the Passion. f. 219. Many of the spaces at the beginnings and endings of these tracts are filled with short theological notes. At the end of art. 7 (f. 50 b) the scribe has added " Amen quod dominus Johannes Ardyslay." Paper and vellum; ff. 224. xvth cent. The fly-leaves (ff. 1, 224) contain fragments of a 14th-cent. copy of the Vita S. Thomæ by Herbert of Boseham (Materials for Hist. of Abp.
