1. CALENDAR, Of Dominican use, originally no doubt forming part of a Service-book. Among the festivals marked " totum duplex " are:-29 Apr., " Beati Petri martyris de ordine predicatorum (ob. 1252); 24 May, " Translacio beati Dominici "; 5 (sic) Aug., Beati Dominici confessoris " ; 25 Aug., St. Louis, King and Confessor. On 5 Sept. is " Anniuersarium familiarum et benefactorum ordinis nostri "; and on 10 Oct., " Anniuersarium omnium fratrum ordinis nostri." For these two Dominican entries cf. Add. 23,935, f. 48. The following obits have been inserted:-
23 Feb., James I. of Scotland, 1436 [7]; 10 Mar., David Lindsay, Earl of Crawford, 1406 [7]; 19 Apr., Robert II. of Scotland, " Senescalli," 1390 ; 7 June, Robert I. of Scotland, " de Bruys," 1329; 10 Aug., Patrick [Graham], Earl of Strathern, 1412; Oct., Eufemia [Stewart], Countess of Strathern [wife of Patrick Graham], 1415; 18 Nov., Sir Henry de Douglas, 1392. Against 19 June is written in the margin [" Translatio] Margarete Regine," i.e. St. Margaret, A.D. 1251. Under 7 July is inserted " Altare huius hospitalis hac die dedicatum fuit per . . . . . . . Willelmum [Gordon], Aberdonensem Episcopum, anno a Christo nato quadragesimo nono sesquemillesimo " [sc. 1549], the hospital referred to being probably either that of St. Peter or that of St. Thomas, at Aberdeen.
2. Letters Patent of Edward I. to John Wogan, Justiciary of Ireland, commanding him to deliver the temporalities of the see of Ossory to William FitzJohn, as soon as his election should be confirmed by the Archbishop of Dublin; Westminster, 24 Oct. ao 30 [1302]. Followed by a letter from R[ichard de Ferings], Archbishop of Dublin, to the king, giving the required confirmation; London, 25 Oct. 1302. Lat. Contemporary copies. f. 7. Vellum; ff. 7. xivth cent. Art. 1 was written in France, and. is ornamented with borders and miniatures, the former of leafwork, with birds and grotesques, the latter representing the zodiacal signs and occupations peculiar to the several months, all delicately executed, but much rubbed and otherwise injured.
