ACCOMPT-BOOK Of the Overseers of " Parishe [sc. Paris] Gardens Liberty," in the parish of St. Saviour, Southwark, from 17 May, 1608, to 30 Sept. 1671. Among items of interest are several entries relating to the Swan Playhouse, 1611-1621. ff. 8-12, 1 9 ;-to a collection for building a church in Prague in Bohemia, 1620, 1623. ff. 18, 21 ;-and to sums lent from the parish chest on jewellery and other pledges. The name of John Lowen al. Lowin appears as an overseer on ff. 16, 25 b, 26, 27, 28 b, 29, 32 ; and on f. 41 occurs the name of Thomas Guy, in connection with the sale of coal. This is Thomas Guy, the father of the Founder of Guy's Hospital, described in the Dict. of National Biography as " lighterman and coalmonger." Paper; ff. 47. The first thirteen leaves are much mutilated. Folio.
