1. " THE ART OF LIMEINGE; an expert and compendious discourse concerning the art of Minatura or Limeinge " : the " Miniatura " of Daniel King (see other copies in Add. 12,461 and Harl. 6000, the former being King's presentation copy to Mary, daughter of Thomas, 3rd Lord Fairfax). f 1. At the end (f. 30) the scribe has written " Michaell Yffington fecit." Added are:-(a) Recipes for writing in gold, engraving, and making varnish. f. 31;-(b) " The practice of that famous Limmer Hippolito Donato, liuing in Rome, in a small picture of Christ." f. 34;-(c) " To make Indian inck " and other pigments. f. 35;-(d) " The manner of annealing and painting upon glasse." f. 37;-(e) Directions for making " Japan vernish," perfuming gloves and starch, and dyeing straws, and for making cement or coral, and wax-work figures. ff. 42-46. B. stamped on the covers; and with a modern book-plate containing the arms azure, a demi-lion rampant couped, surrounded by the motto " Sub robore virtus," from which is suspended the cross of a Knight Pensioner of Charles III. of Spain. Small Octavo.
