Basilii] super xii. libros Virgilii," beg. "Primus habet Libicam ueniant ut Troies in urbem" (Riese, No. 634), f. 38. With copious scholia and glosses, the greater part contemporary with the text, the remainder in Italian hands of various dates down to the 15th cent. At the end are:-Verses on the Nine Muses (wanting the first two lines, "Clio gesta canens," etc., Riese, No. 664, under the name of Cato), f. 148 b;-General remarks on the works of Virgil, beg. Materia Virgilii est in hoc opere cultura terre," f. 149;-"Virgilii vita aecundum Donatum" (differing considerably from the Life by Donatus as printed by Hagen, Scholia Bernensia, 1867, p. 734, the beginning, "P. Virg-. Maro genere Mantuanus, dignitate eques Romanus," agreeing, rather with the "Verg. vitæ specimen alterum," p. 745), f. 150;-"Ovidius Naso": preface to the arguments on No. 1), f. 150 b;-"Tetransticon [tetrastichon] ovidii," beg. "Qualis Bucolicis " (Riese, No. 2), f. I 50 b;-"Versus Supplicii [Sulpicii] Cartaginensis," beg. "Jusserat hæc rapidis" op. cit. p. 738; Meyer, Anthol. Lat., I835, No. 222), f. 150 b;-"Carmen Octoviatni (sic) Cesaris," beg. "Ergone supremis potuit " (Riese, No. 672), f. 150 b.;-The distich, "Nocte pluit tota," etc. (Riese, No. 256), f. 150 b;-"De fine sexti libri Eneidum": notes on vi. 817, seqq., f. 150b. At ff. 2-3 b are notes on the MS. by Thomas Crane, Minister of St. Olave, Chester, to whom it belonged in 1800 (see f. 1 b). Vellum; ff. 150 (including 3 modern paper leaves). Written in Italy at the end of the XIIth cent. With ornamental initials coloured red and green. Large Octavo.
