LETTERS of Major-General Charles George Gordon, C.B., to members of his family, written chiefly during military operations in which he was engaged, from the Crimean War to the siege of Khartoum; 1855-1884. With sketch-maps. At f. 23 is a letter from General [then Major] Gordon to Moh Wang, one of the leaders of the Tai Ping rebels, dated 18 Oct. 1863, with a sketch-map, which were found upon the body of the Wang when he was murdered; and at f. 42 is a sketch-map of the districts around Soochow, which were held by the rebels, and were conquered from them in 1862-4, drawn by General Gordon. The last letter in the volume is to his sister, Mary Augusta Gordon; Khartoum, 27 Feb. and 1 Mar. 1884. Paper; ff. 51. Small Folio.
