- Origin:France.Provenance:A note in an 18th- or 19th-century hand on the upper flyleaf (f. 1r): 'Cet ouvrage est d’une grande naiveté'. This is followed by a table ofcontents that omits Christine’s Enseignements. A further note in a 19th-century hand (f. 1v): 'Itwould be superfluous to subjoin any comments upon the productions of Christine de Pisewhich have already occupied the attention of the learned. The present volume contains Enseignemens moraux, some pieces hardly known, and the manuscript is in the most clean and perfect state.'Purchased by the British Museum at Puttick's, 24 August 1848, lot 859.
