LEIDEN MUNICIPAL RECORDS: bye-laws and orders relating to the municipal government of Leiden; late 15th cent, after March 1479 (see f. 28). Dutch. Origin: Netherlands. See: K. de Flou and E. Purchased from 'Mr Cornish' [Samuel Cornish, book dealer of Bristol?], Dec. 1830.

Vellum and paper; ff. ii+84. Blank leaves between ff. 12-13, 28-29, 40-41, 47-48, 75-76, and after f. 84. 290 x 210mm. Gatherings (12) generally of twelve, paper between inner and outer bifolia of vellum: ii lacks 4-9, iv10, vi10, vii lacks 9, 10, xi8. Quires ii, vi, xi are blank. Signatures in small letters and arabic numerals, first six folios of each quire, bottom right-hand corner recto, some cropped. Single columns. One gothic hybrid book script throughout. Each of the five books of art. 1, and also art 2, begin on a new quire. Border and initial in red and blue penwork, ff. 1, 76. In addition capitals, etc., are marked in red and blue throughout art. 2. Watermark, a coquille, near Briquet 4509. White vellum binding over boards, late 17th - early 18th cent.

2. ff. 76-84. Orders concerning water rights at Damme in Flanders.
