Purchased, together with Add. 8292 (parts), 8564, 8674, 8719, 8786, and possibly 8507, 8536, 8538, 8800, from R. H. Evans, 8 December 1830, lot 544 (part).
Paper; ff. 128+1, plus four unfoliated blanks after ff. 4, 7, 26, 35, five after ff. 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 29, 36, three after ff. 10, 17, 21, 27, 28, two after ff. 22, 33, one after ff. 39, 78, 91, 117, 119, 122, 123. circa 322 x 216mm (mounted on guards). Modern foliation '1-128' (followed here), omitting one leaf after f. 80. Four Italian hands: - (a) ff. 1-36v; - (b) ff. 81-91; - (c) ff. 92-114; - (d) ff. 115-126v; one Greek hand: ff. 37-80; one English hand: ff. 127-128.
Contents as follows:
1. ff. 1-2v. Catalogue of 41 numbered Greek MSS. Greek.
2. ff. 3-36v. Catalogue of MSS., mainly Italian. Italian and Latin. Imperfect. Each entry has a reference to the MS. number in the catalogue of the collection of provenance. Four catalogues are identified by the name of the collection, such as Mattei, Marefoschi, Marini, and Falconieri. Other three catalogues are marked A, B, and C. Catalogue C is possibly identifiable with the catalogue of part of the Nani collection (see A. Nanetti, Il fondo archivistico Nani nella Biblioteca Nazionale di Grecia ad Atene. Euristica documentaria sulla Morea Veneta (Venezia, 1996; Oriens graecolatinus, 3), pp. 30-32. The MSS. are listed alphabetically and numerically according to their catalogue number in the collection of provenance. The leaves are arranged in 18 gathering of 6-10 leaves, one gathering for each letter of the Italian alphabet ('A'-'T').
3. ff. 37-71, 72-80. Catalogue of Greek printed Books, followed by a catalogue of unnumbered Greek MSS., which differs from those listed in art. 1; post 1817. Greek. The leaves are arranged in single bifolia.
4. ff. 80bis-91, 92-114. Two lists of individual texts (beginning with letters 'F-M', 'V') in 48 miscellaneous MSS. Italian. Imperfect.
5. ff. 115-126. Class catalogue of MSS. and books. Italian and Latin. The headings are: 'Letteratura e Diplomazia', 'Diritto publico e romano, ossia Leggi', 'Classici', 'Santi Padri e Scrittori Ecclesiastici', 'Gesta et Vitae Summorum Pontificum et aliorum', 'Commercio Epistolare', 'Città e altre istanze'.
6. ff. 127-128. List of 54 MSS. (72 volumes) in a chest numbered '1', probably to be dispatched to Corfu.
