Italian. A historical account of events in Europe during the War of the Austrian Succession which followed the death of Emperor Charles VI in 1740 and culminated in the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748. On the front pastedown of both volumes is the armorial bookplate of Lorenzo Antonio da Ponte, d. 1821 (Bragaglia, no. 1023). Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '521' in pencil on front pastedowns of both volumes. Purchased, together with Add. 8252, 8761, 8762, 8808-8810, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 521 (part).
Paper; two volumes. Title pages of both volumes decorated with red ink capitals and borders. Both volumes are ruled in ink and have running headings on each page and catchwords on the verso of each folio. Full vellum binding over pasteboards, second half 18th cent. 270 x 195mm.
