Ownership inscription in ink at top of f. 190 (see art. 21) 'Bonifatii Vanozzij' (Vanozzi is also the author of art. 7). Old signature 'Tom. XLVIII' in upper right corner of flyleaf and '4[92]' in fourth spine compartment: identifiable with Mattei MS. 492 (vol. 48 of 'Memorie diverse') in Guilford's catalogue Add. 8220, f. 23v. 'Tomo 105' (or '105') written in ink in top left hand corner of first rectos of most articles. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. This letter, together with a second, was published as a separate tract and later re-issued as part of Raccolta di scritture seguite nelli presenti motti d'Italia (S.l., s.n., 1615-1619.
